1. How good were Alex and Morgan at budgeting for the 30 day period?
In the beginning, they were not very good at budgeting, but as the days passed, they were smarter with their money, buying inexpensive food (except for Morgan's birthday), and working at least one job.
2. What role did budgeting play in survival for Alex and Morgan?
Budgeting played a crucial role in their survival. Without budgeting, they would be very far into debt.
3. Do you agree with Senator Ted Kennedy's that raising the minimum wage helps families? How about the opposing side that is against raising the minimum wage (big businesses in the U.S.)?
I really only agree with Kennedy. Yes, I believe raising the minimum wage will help families because the higher amount of money received per hour for the worker, the money he or she will receive to support his or her families.
4. Why do you think Alex became so emotional about the services that were given to her and Morgan at The Free Store?
I think he was emotional because he was amazed and touched at the kindness of the community.
5. Describe how you would make the decision regarding going to the doctor vs. trying to keep finances in the bank. What if children were involved-would that change your decision making process? If so, how?
No, in either case, I would do my best to endure the pain, and be careful.
6. Observe how easy it was for Morgan and Alex to get into an argument over finances. What is the underlying feeling that you think is at the cause of conflict?
I think the underlying feeling may be a feeling of helplessness; they feel like they do may not have enough money to survive.
